You will develop a technology strategy for documenting dramatic play and evaluate your strategy.
This will be done in the form of a two-page paper.

Begin by reading this scenario:

Scenario: You are a new teacher in a pre-K classroom. Your center has six new digital
cameras and two new iPads, and each classroom has just been given a website. You decide to
explore new technology tools to observe and document students in your class during dramatic
play. You sit down to create an observation strategy, considering what technology is best suited
to observing dramatic play.

In writing your paper, include complete responses to the following three prompts:

1. Describe a dramatic-play activity and two types of assessments, their purposes, and

their associated methods and tools. Tell which assessment tool you would use for the
activity and why. (NAEYC Standard 3b)

2. Describe the professional communication skills, including technology-mediated
strategies, you would use to effectively support young children’s learning and
development and to work with families and colleagues. (NAEYC Standard 6c)

3. Describe how you would use the knowledge gained from the assessment of the dramatic
play activity to make evidence-based decisions that support each child. (NAEYC
Standard 1d)

Requirements:

• Address all aspects of the eight items above.
• Write two pages double-spaced with 1-inch margins (about 500 words).
• Include a cover and reference pages.
• Use 12 pt: Times New Roman or similar font.
• Use APA formatting.
