The topic I chose is 5. What factors influence the gender wage gap?

Why?
I chose sociology because it is the study of social problems. It is best suited to evaluate the extent, trends, and explanations of factors that influence the gender wage gap. Sociology will evaluate factors including race and ethnicity, disability, access to education, and age’s role in the gender wage gap. Overall, women are not paid as much as men, even when working full-time and year-round. On average, women working full time, year-round are paid 83.7% of what men are paid this inequality is even greater for black and Hispanic women.
· What group or groups of people would be research subjects for this study?
The gender wage gap varies by race and ethnicity and is larger for older women. The study group would need adults male and female who represented a cross-section of all races, ethnicities, and ages.
· What research method do you think would be most appropriate to use to research this topic? Why?
The research method that I think would be most appropriate to use to do research on this topic is Field research. This is because of the many methods of analysis. These can include non-participant direct observation, participant observation, mass observation, mail questionnaire, opinionnaire, personal interview, focused interview, group interview, telephone survey, case study, and life history. The useful techniques include: Interactional recording, possible use of tape recorders, and photographic techniques. Recording mass behavior, and interviews using independent observers in public places. Identification of the social and economic background of respondents. Use of attitude scales, projective techniques, use of sociometric scales. The interviewer uses a detailed schedule with open and closed questions. The interviewer focuses on a given experience and its effects. Small groups of respondents are interviewed simultaneously.
